Books/Games finished v1

April 14, 2026

I've been trying to get better about finishing things (unless I hate it, like a book/game that I can't bother). Here are some books and games that I've finished recently. Spoilers obivously. Book - Black Sheep I found this book randomly on Libby after looking for a horror novel. It was available on Kindle and I needed something for our flight to Japan. Premise is about a women who grew up in a cult, leaves, then finds her way back home as she gets invited to a wedding. The cult - they worship satan. Her dad, which left her early on, is Satan himself. And the wedding is a ritual to start the end of the world. Writing all of this makes it bonkers. It is bonkers. It was a quick read. Not scary at all, but fun. Book - Wool (Silo book 1) The book moved at a pretty face pace and I was surprised that it took us outside the silo. My wife and I started seeing the TV show and the show seems to take it's time getting there. Not the book. Really great read. Book - Shift (Silo book 2) Been working my way through the Silo book series. I enjoyed book 1. Book 2 was fine. I wished it had continued to story of Book 1, but the prequel-ness (not a word) was ok. I felt like it lost the mystery of why the silos were built. I wanted to know more about juliette. I liked how it tied things together with book 1. I'll read book 3 and hope it's worth it. ha Book - Careless People Wow - I'm definitely getting off Facebook. This book was terrifying and gave an inside look into facebook. Some of the writing could have been better, and the trope of "I wanted to quit but couldn't" was lame. But the material. Damn. This should be a must read. Game - Alan Wake 2 What a game. Loved the atmosphere, the gameplay, the music. Everything. The musical set pieces are clearly standouts. Need to replay it for the Final Draft. Might even replay Control now. Games - Mario 3D world + Bowsers Fury I really enjoyed 3d world. It was fun and I loved the level design. I seem to like this more than Wonder. There are still a bunch of extra levels to finish, but I'm going to take my time with them. Bowsers Fury on the other hand - I had heard that it was an open-world Mario. It is but it didn't land with me. Not sure why. It felt disjointed? I'm not sure I'm going to continue to get all of the starts and defeat the final version of Bowser. Games currently playing: - Expedition 33 - Doom Dark Ages - Kingdom Come Deliverance - Baldurs Gate 3 That's it for now!
